Kiss those monthly maintenance fees and minimum balance requirements goodbye. Your checking account is free regardless of how much you keep in it or how often you use it.
You need a free checking account that has your best interests at heart, 24/7 and puts the control in your hands. There’s a financial institution on every corner willing to take advantage of your blood, sweat, and tears, but at SunWest, we know financial freedom comes from you calling the shots without being nickel and dimed.
A direct deposit is an electronic funds transfer from one account to another. The most common use of direct deposit is when you get paid from work. Instead of picking up a paper check from the office, or being sent your check in the mail, your employer will deposit your paycheck right into your account, saving you the hassle of visiting the office, then the bank, which means more YOU-time.
Typically, all you need is a direct deposit form from your financial institution that lists their name, routing number, your name, and your account number. To get a direct deposit form for your SunWest account, click here.
The routing number for SunWest Credit Union is 322172506.
A routing number is a 9-digit number used in the United States that identifies a financial institution. No two financial institutions will have the same one, although some may have multiple.
You can find your checking account number by logging into your account online. Under the section labeled “Accounts”, you will see a line titled “Share Draft Account” with a 6-digit number listed next to it. This is your checking account number. This can also be found on your monthly account statement.

Yep, SunWest is part of the CO-OP Network that connects credit unions throughout all 50 states.
You can use any ATM that accepts Mastercard, however, they may charge a fee. SunWest partners with the CO-OP Network, as well as Allpoint to give you fee-free options throughout the United States, and even certain international countries.
You will never be charged for using a SunWest ATM, and you can use other ATMs 5 times each month with no fee from us. If you go over that 5, you may see a “Foreign ATM Fee” of $5 on your account. Keep in mind that although SunWest may not charge a fee to use another ATM, the terminal provider may, so it’s important to check before using their ATM.
Overdraft protection is when a transaction comes through your checking account, but you don’t have enough money in the checking to cover it. Your account will automatically pull from either your savings or a line of credit to cover you and make the payment, so you aren’t charged a $32 overdraft or non-sufficient funds fee.
When you open your account, savings will automatically be set as an overdraft protection option. If you would like to remove that, just give us a call at 602.866.1100
You are not charged for overdraft protection. However, you will be charged $32 for courtesy pay transactions. This is when you do not have funds in savings or a line of credit to cover the charge, so SunWest pays on your behalf, taking your account negative, and giving you 30 days to pay it back.
